Install and log in
If you've never played MU Online, start here. It's four steps and takes about ten minutes, almost all of it downloading.
1. Create the account on the site
The account is created at wildmu.com, not inside the game. It's free.
Three things that save you a headache:
- The account name is at most 10 characters.
- The game password is at most 10 characters. It isn't a design choice, it's a limit of MU's database. The game's password box lets you type more than that, and it doesn't help: anything past 10 doesn't exist for the server. If you use a password manager, generate one of 10.
- Save the account name exactly as you typed it. That's what you log in with, not your e-mail.
2. Download the client
client.wildmu.com/WildMU-Setup.exe
There is only a Windows version. There's no client for Mac, Linux, Android or iPhone, and you can't play in a browser.
The installer brings the whole game — you don't need MU installed beforehand, and you don't need to download anything from anywhere else.
3. Enter the server
There is one world: Wild MU — x200. It shows up on its own in the list when the game opens, so there is nothing to pick — you just go in.
One world is on purpose. One market, one ranking, and the same spots contested by everybody: a new server split across several rates turns into several empty servers, and nobody wants to log into one of those.

4. Create your character
There are six classes. If you've never played MU, the easiest to learn is the Dark Knight: hits up close, takes a beating and doesn't depend on mana.
The character name must be 4 to 9 letters. The game's box says "4 to 10", but the server refuses 10 — use 9 or fewer. No spaces.
There are two classes you can't create yet:

It isn't a VIP or payment lock — it's level, and it applies to everyone. The other four are free from the first minute.

It isn't everyone in Lorencia:

Before you walk off
Your character is born dressed and with one million zen, and the vault has a gift. What each thing is, and what not to do with them, is in first steps.
If it gets stuck
I can't log in, it says the password is wrong. Check that you're using the account name, not the e-mail. And remember the 10-character limit: if you registered a longer password somewhere, it won't match.
The game opens and closes by itself. Run the installer as administrator and tell your antivirus to allow the game folder — MU touches things that antivirus software tends to find suspicious.
I got in but everything is freezing. MU is a 2003 game and runs on almost anything; freezing is almost always the anti-cheat fighting another open program. Close screen recorders and overlays (Discord, GeForce Experience).
